I can’t believe it is here already! Spending my days with your Most Precious Gifts has flown by. It has been a JOY watching these kinders use their gifts and grow into their First Grade Shoes! I have very much appreciated your partnership and support along the way! Looking ahead to how you can best support your youngest reader, writer and math explorer this Summer? Here are some ideas:

• Have your child practice reading daily using the many UFLI strategies he/she has learned this year to maintain fluency, comprehension and automaticity. *This will be critical to help prevent the summer slide.

• Find a Summer Reading Incentive Program at a local library for your child to participate in.

• Create a Summer Journal (included in packet) where your child develops strong sentences and applies skills taught (capital letter to begin, space between words and punctuation to end).

• Practice adding and subtracting within 10 fluently, use Number Trees to find the missing part/whole, solve simple addition and subtraction story problems using pictures to support thinking and of course…play games.

Your kinder will be coming home with a First Grade Readiness Summer Packet on the Last Day of School to help support the above ideas. May Jesus place His mantle of protection upon you all and bless your family with countless Holy Moments.
