Following Jesus into 2nd Grade
Welcome Back St. Al’s!
2nd Grade has started this year off strong diving into our new theme, Disciples of Jesus: Listen, Learn, Love. We have defined disciple as a person who follows Jesus and tries to live as He did. We are consistently looking for ways to show love of God and neighbor!
In math we made glyphs which are pictures that represent data! Our beetle glyphs can tell a lot of information about us without even using any words. We also each built our own number rack to work on adding and subtracting within 20.
In language arts we are kicking off the year with Rooted in Reading and UFLI. We learned how to treat “otters” the way we want to be treated from Mr. Rabbit and how to problem solve when we are worried like Wemberley. Our phonics skills are staying sharp with the help of our scribble pads and manipulative letters!
We cannot wait to start our GLAD unit on bees! You could say our room is “buzzing” with excitement!
Of course we are enjoying music, art, and PE! Recess and lunch are awesome! Our first all school Mass of the Holy Spirit was inspiring. Fund Run is right around the corner! Wow, we are a lucky class to get to experience so many different activities this Fall.
Above all we keep our eyes focused on Jesus as we work together to be “leaders in action modeled on Christ.”
Love,
Mrs. McBroom
