Highlights from our Week:
- Math: I teach two separate math lessons each day for 3rd and 4th The curriculum at these grades are different and build on each other. The 3rd graders are reviewing addition, as well as are learning strategies for multiplication. The 4th graders are moving on in their multiplication learning by multiplying larger numbers. They are also reviewing strategies taught in 3rd grade. Both grades took a short baseline assessment this week too.
- Social Studies/Religion: We are really working on classroom community building, getting to know each other, and what it means to be a great classmate. We are practicing spreading ripples of kindness. Ask your child what this means.
- Reading: We have learned all about our class library and how independent & partner reading works. I have begun assessing the children in reading this week.
- Writing: We had a great discussion about what 3rd/4th grade writers do and don’t do since they are getting older. We also learned about our Writing Workshop. They wrote about their summers and also began to gather ideas for our first unit on narratives.
