SCROLL

Marta Shollenberger

  • I joined St. Al’s school community when my son started in Montessori.

In 1991, when my son was in second grade I started working as a Montessori teacher assistant. In 1995 I became the Montessori Director and teacher. St. Al’s has been my home now for about 32 years.

  • I love how children love to learn. I love that they stay in my classroom for usually 3 years. I get to know them and their family really well. I love preparing the environment to encourage exploration. The children fill my life with joy. Teaching in the Montessori method is my passion.

  • I started at St Al’s during the 1999/2000 school year. This is my 24th school year here.

  • I love watching the light bulb go off in a child’s mind when they finally master something. The light in their eyes and joy on their faces at the accomplishment.

  • I am a St. Al’s alum! I’ve been working here for 5 years.

  • I love the amazing students that I get to work with in Montessori. Their creativity amazes me each day!

At St. Aloysius Montessori you will see a classroom which has children of multi ages ( at least 3 age groups) that fosters peer learning, uninterrupted periods of work time in which the child has many choices of work in the areas of language, math, science, geography, sensorial, practical life, art, history, and religion. The classroom is prepared by the teachers to encourage independence, freedom within limits, and a sense of order. The child has the freedom to choose work and may interact with the teachers when he/she feels they need a lesson or guidance. It is the teacher’s job to observe the children as they work and give group or individual demonstrations. We also believe in the St. Aloysius Gonzaga School Philosophy.
