Highlights from our Week:

  • Math: In third grade, we explored geometry with tangrams and toothpicks. We have learned a lot of geometry vocabulary over the last two weeks! In fourth grade, we have learned many strategies for multiplying multi-digit numbers. We have also learned how to divide using long division.
  • Religion: We continued our study of Lent. We were able to take scripture passages in the Bible that had to do with Lent and pray on them with our new Bibles. The children took these passages home so they can pray with them for the remainder of Lent. We also enjoyed our class Mass on Thursday.
  • Writing: We took time to understand how to do our research using the Chromebooks. We learned how to take notes and turn those notes into a plan for writing. We then learned how to take the plan and turn it into an essay. In grammar we continued to learn about adjectives.
  • Science: We learned about the germination process of a seed. We also went to the lab and planted our seeds!
  • Social Studies: We learned about teepees (their purpose, what they are made of, how the people stayed warm). We then built our own edible ice cream cone teepees!
  • Reading: We explored strategies for answering our questions we have when reading. We read a short text about landing on the moon. As we read, we asked questions, annotated our thinking, highlighted main points, and discovered the answers to our questions. We also continued our novel studies.
  • Technology: We used the Chromebooks for our research writing.
