Happy Summer!

Thank you so much for another amazing school year! The students did great adjusting to cohorts, distance learning, and constantly changing schedules. I was impressed with their resiliency and stamina. Thank you for your partnership this school year. I will miss this class, but I am excited to see them move on to be awesome 3rd graders!

To prevent “brain drain” over the summer, please have your child read, read, read, and read some more! We want to maintain the wonderful progress they have all made this year. Here are some online resources that can be used over the summer:

  1. Biblionasium- Find books online appropriate for your child’s interests and ability. And its free!
  2. Free Rice- This is a fun way for students to test their vocabulary knowledge. Plus they also donate rice to third world countries.
  3. Read Theory- offers online reading activities for all ages and ability levels.
  4. Epic!- Epic Free limits students to 2 hours of reading per week. They might be changing their policy at the end of this month but worth a try!

Checkout books from the library and look into their summer reading programs.

Please also check out the second grade core words and addition/subtraction facts sheets sent home this week.

I wish you all a fun and safe summer!

Blessings,

Mrs. Foster
