March 30th Newsletter 4th

Happy Monday Fourth Grade,

I hope you found joy this weekend spending time with family, tackling extra tasks around the house, enjoying one another, and playing with your pets. I loved seeing everyone’s furry friends on our zoom meeting! Although this time has been challenging, it has given me the time to reach out to many family members and friends. I found that taking time out of my day to have conversations with others has been a Holy Spirit Moment for me. I’m so thankful for how technology keeps us connected.

I know there has been a lot of information being sent your way regarding activities for your child. For this week, I want students to focus on Religion and Math.

This Friday would’ve been Stations of the Cross at our school. Here is a video of children acting out the stations of the cross that you could show your child: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SoVwj8MmNTM. (You can copy and paste the link into your browser) After the Stations of the Cross, we usually have quiet reflection time. This would be a great time for your child to start on the stations of the cross book I’ve attached. Students get to cut and color this; perfect for an independent activity!

For math, I’ve attached the module 2 Math At Home Bridges packet. I’ve also attached printable fraction strips. We use these in class and they will help your child with fractions!

Focus Points for this week:

· Religion: Stations of the Cross Video and Book

· Math: Bridges review or review math facts 1-12

· Week 3 PE

Thank you for the blessed zoom meeting. It brought me so much joy and I could see how much joy it brought the kids.

***Our next Zoom meeting will be on Thursday, April 2nd at 10:00 AM. During this meeting, your child may share something that they’ve worked on or created during these few weeks or something that brings them joy! We love sharing in 4th grade and I am so excited to see which item your child shares! I will send the link out soon.

From our last zoom meeting, this is the link of Forrest on tv that everyone wanted to see: https://www.khq.com/top_story/lego-research-and-development-club-explodes-in-popularity-on-facebook/article_757766be-6af6-11ea-a146-0727ba564e4b.html

I’ve also attached the Lego challenge we talked about at our last zoom meeting.

Our class has 2 major forms for communication during this school closure- email and our class webpage on St. Al’s school website. I am attaching the documents (under the documents tab near the bottom of the page) that I have been sending in my emails here to for your reference. Please look there for activities or documents I’ve handed out. I have also uploaded pictures to my website on the St. Al’s page. All of the photos from this year are on my website under Images, 2019-2020. If you have other photos you may have taken from this year, please email them to me so I can add them!

Next week is spring break and I will not be sending out a new letter home. Please email with any questions as well as keep in touch with pictures!

Have a blessed week.

Love,

Mrs. Hirst
