Curricular Information:

Math:  We learned about ratio tables, as well as we practiced other multiplication strategies.  We reviewed the traditional algorithm of subtracting larger numbers, as well as rounding to ten.  We also created a bar graph of our favorite ice cream flavors.  During Number Corner, we continued our study of fractions as well as we began measuring mass with grams.

Religion:  We began our learning of Advent and the Jesse Tree!  This is a very special time of our Liturgical year and we are making the most of it in third grade.  We have enjoyed saying prayers around our Advent candles this week.  We also have discovered the Jesse Tree which represents the lineage of Jesus.  We painted our own Jesse Trees and are adding ornaments daily to them as we read the stories of the Old Testament.  Also, we have joined the rest of the school in the hallway for Advent prayer each day.  Please join us if you can for this special time!

Language Arts:  We began our study of verbs during Grammar this week.  We also wrote true narratives of our Thanksgiving and read in guided groups as well.

Science:  We finished our study of climate by again exploring climatetypesforkids.com during our technology time.  We “researched” different climate types from around the world and wrote about our discoveries.
