*Our Scholastic Book orders went out last week. They are due this Friday, November 22nd. Our class code is QMCQ3 if you are ordering online.
*Thank you to those of you who have already signed up to donate Operation Christmas Child items on the sheets outside my classroom door. We still have spaces available on the list. Please make sure items are small enough to fit in a shoebox. We are desperately in need of soccerballs and small air pumps. We can deflate them here to fit. The children from these countries love to play soccer and a new ball would bring them joy. All items are due by November 22nd. Your donations are much appreciated!!
*Our Christmas program is coming up on December 17th at 6:30. Your children are busy practicing for their play and their songs. Last week I emailed you the link to the YouTube music for the songs. I also sent home the scripts for their play in the program. Remember only those children who wanted speaking parts have one. I have attached hard copies of the lyrics to this packet.

Math: We took an assessment this week on what we have learned in Number Corner since the beginning of school. These will go home with report cards. We also worked on multiplication strategies of arrays, numberlines, and repeated addition. During Number Corner, we learned about numerators and denominators. We began exploring equivalent fractions too!
Religion: We continued learning about the parts of Mass. We learned about saying the Creed, the Prayers of the Faithful, and the offering. We also read about two Saints (Saint Benedict and Saint Clare of Assisi.) Ask your child to tell you about the miracle that St. Clare performed to save her convent. We read a faith devotional and prayed intentions as well.
Science: We learned all about what a meteorologist does and how that person helps us. We learned about some of the instruments a meteorologist uses to predict the weather. Ask your child about the use of a thermometer, a wind vane, a rain gauge, and a compass.
Language Arts: We learned more about plural nouns this week. We learned that for some plural nouns, we have to follow the rule, “change the y to an i and add es.” We also wrote our final true story piece. Look for these to come home with the report cards in a few weeks. In addition, we met in our guided reading and word work groups.
