Kindergarten – Sunflower Still Life Crayon Resist

The Kindergarten classes continue to increase their stamina!  We’re taking on multi-step, mixed media projects now…we watched a short Mati and Dada Art Video about Vincent Van Gogh’s “Sunflowers,” and now we’re creating our own versions using waxy, bright crayon covered with yellow tempera paint to give it a brush-stroked look.  All-Day K worked hard on their vases, tables, and flowers this week, and they’ll give it the final “painterly” touch during our next class. I can’t wait to see their own versions of a “masterpiece” (a vocabulary word from the video).

I am St. Aloysius School's art teacher for grades K-8. It is a joy to bring art instruction to our students.
