Second Grade and MAC Class- Starry, Snowy Nights

The second grade and MAC class experimented with oil pastels on black paper to create their versions of a “Starry, Snowy Night.” They practiced creating movement with Van Gogh-inspired broken lines, and used white pastels to create contrast on the black paper.  We also reviewed  the element of space (demonstrating background, mid-ground, and foreground with appropriately-sized objects) and emphasis by making our stars much larger that they would look in a real night sky.

I am St. Aloysius School's art teacher for grades K-8. It is a joy to bring art instruction to our students.
