*Your wonderful children have earned a Pajama Day.  We will have this special day on Friday, October 12th.  The children may wear their pajamas to school that day.  Please keep in mind that they are appropriate for school.  The children must also wear tennis shoes (no slippers).  We have P.E. that day.  They can bring one small stuffed animal, one blanket, and some favorite books.  All must be able to fit in their backpacks.

*Homework:  It is due by the following Monday. Please let me know if you have any questions.

  1. Spelling Words (Test Friday)
  2. Reading Log
  3. Math Log
  4. Double-sided math sheet

*Map Testing:  We are all finished until January!  The children did a nice job testing.

*Please sign up on-line to track your volunteer hours.  If you have any questions, please email Aleisha Webb (awebb@dioceseofspokane.org).

*Please collect “Box Tops for Education” for our school.  They are the little Box Top labels found on certain food items and products.  These labels earn cash for our school.  Thank you!

Curricular Information:

Math:  We continued to look at the numberlines we created and place value on those numberlines.  We took notes in our math journals on how to use a numberline to help us add.  It is one of our many strategies we can use to help us solve problems.  We also worked in small groups on reviewing math skills.  In addition, we looked at multiplication models, and began geometry during Number Corner as well.

Reading:  We continued talking about our “inner conversations” when we read.  These help us to better understand the text.

Social Studies:  We continued to learn about the compass rose and directions on maps.

Religion:  We came up with ideas of our “Prayers of the Faithful” to pray during our Chapel Mass on Thursday.  The children who had parts in our Mass also practiced their parts in front of us.  About once a month, we will have a Mass in our chapel with the fourth graders.  It is such a sweet time of worship for our classes.  Everyone who wants one will have a part during a Mass this school year.
