“God draws us towards good, but he does not force

us to do good; our freedom remains central.”

~ Richard Hauser SJ

Message from Principal Angie Krauss:

Dear Families,

This time of year we are pulled in so many directions and often feel we don’t have enough time to do things well. The verse below reminds me God doesn’t call us to do things perfect but to first and foremost share his love with others.

1 Corinthians 13 Verse 4-7

“Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.”

A pearl of wisdom my dad taught me was that your co- workers, students and parents may forget the words you spoke or the lessons you taught but they will never forget the way you made them feel. “Three things will last forever—faith, hope, and love—and the greatest of these is love.” 1 Corinthians 13:13.

I pray you each experience Jesus’s unconditional love for you in a transformative way this week.

Below you will find reminders about events and opportunities to give feedback and serve our school community:

* A piece of this accreditation process is surveying our students and parents. The students finished their survey in grades Kindergarten through eighth grade. I ask that each parent take a moment to complete the survey by clicking on this link: Accreditation Parent Survey. This information is valuable and helps us understand our strengths and areas that need improvement. I thank you ahead of time for filling this survey out for us.

* Also, we have some openings on our Parent Advisory Board for the upcoming year. We are looking for people with experience and skills in law, equity and inclusion, early childhood and faith formation. If you are interested, please fill out the attached form and return it electronically to [email protected] or turn it into the front office by May 14.

* Please mark your calendars for the year end Awards Assemblies taking place on May 22nd at 8:45am for ⅚ graders and May 25th for ⅞ graders at 8:45am These awards include honor roll, extracurricular activities at school and in the parish and community service. We will have rolls and coffee available at 8:30 for parents to enjoy before the assembly begins.

Lastly, please join me in thanking our Fund Run Sponsors:

* Financial Forum, Inc. (Comstock Family)

* The Kids Clinic (Thompson Family)

* Nollette Investment & Retirement Planning, LLC (Nollette Family)

* Budinger & Associates, Inc. (Finnegan Family)

In Christ’s Peace,

Angie Krauss

Message from ELC Administrator Julie Simmons:

Greetings ELC Families!

Thank you for your continued referrals to our center! Our classroom lists across the center are filling and we are so busy with registration, that is a good problem to have!

Each day our “new building addition” to our center becomes more of a reality…we are interviewing candidates this week for our infant/toddler teaching positions, the new cribs have arrived and are awaiting assembly, and plans are underway for two community building events at the beginning of July and at the end of August. One of our goals for the new school year is to build in more opportunities for families to come together during meet and greet events; this summer we can also celebrate the opening of our new playground! If you are interested in helping us plan these events, don’t hesitate to give us a call or stop by!

Have a wonderful week!

Blessings,

Julie

CAST of CHARACTERS DRAMA CAMP Info:

Back by popular demand, this two-week intensive camp inspires Spokane’s youth to be creative and imaginative. Within two weeks, campers will put on a full musical production, complete with improv and choreography, as well as having a blast while doing it. Originally brought to Spokane by Andi and Sean Kane, CAST has been around for over a decade and still going strong! CAST is located at Gonzaga Prep in Spokane, WA and run by Cataldo Drama Director Jenna Solberg as well as Yours Truly (along with a host of wonderful high school-aged counselors).

CAST runs from August 6-17, Monday-Friday, 9am-3pm. Registration costs $250, but we do have some scholarships available (please contact Mr. Barfield if you’re interested). CAST is open to all students going into grades 4-9, and it’s not just for St. Al’s kids. Know an All Saints actor who’d be interested? Forward this along! But hurry before it’s too late! There are a limited number of spots this year. Follow this link to Prep’s website to register: https://goo.gl/sy7cpo
