“Lent is about becoming, doing and changing whatever is that is blocking the fullness of life in us right now.”

~Sister Joan Chittister, OSB

Message from Principal Angie Krauss:

Dear Families,

I hope you enjoyed the long weekend.  I talked to several students today who went skiing, played in tournaments or just had a chance to relax.  I have also enjoyed listening to the students ideas around Lent and how God is calling them to become closer to Him in their faith journey.

On Thursday we will have our Generation Alive packing day.  The students raised $1,413.00 which will provide 5,652 meals to families in need. I am proud of our students efforts to help the hungry and it is a great way to kick off Lent and our social justice projects.

We had a successful Open House and are still conducting tours of our ELC and K-8 programs.  We appreciate you turning in your pre-enrollment forms for next year.  As you prepare for the registration process, please be mindful that accounts must be paid in full to register for the 2018-2019 school year.

Current families will begin registration on March 19, 2018 and the registration packet will be due on March 28th.  Open registration will begin on April 9th to our waitlist families, so it is important to solidify your child’s spot with your packet turned in on time.

We will begin Fair Share Conferences on March 19th and run them through March 30th. Next week in the news, I will be sharing information about a new program called FACTS that will be a tool used in our fair share meetings and allows families to apply for the Nazareth Guild Tap Grant awards.

In Christ’s Peace,

Angie Krauss

Volunteer Hours:

Please watch your email for Volunteer Hour Notices to be sent out. Just to clarify:

  • ½ Day Kindergarten or Montessori enrollment = 10 volunteer hours per family

  • Full time Montessori & KALL-8 enrollment = 20 volunteer hours per family

Volunteer hours are to be completed and submitted no later than Friday, June 8th.

If your family is low on hours, here are some ways for you to get volunteer hours in:

  • Walk with your student to Mass. Teachers love having helpers (especially with the younger grades) We have 1 all school Mass a month.

  • With the new building opening up, we will have projects periodically that we will need help with. Please contact Aleisha Webb for more information.

  • Watch the Monday News for more upcoming events or opportunities to volunteer.

Contact Aleisha Webb with any questions you may have at

awebb@dioceseofspokane.org

Generation Alive:

This Thursday, February 22nd will be the Generation Alive packing day and WE NEED TO BORROW YOUR TABLES! The leadership kids will be setting up in the gym to start packaging meals and we are still in need of some extra 6 ft. folding tables. Rather than buying them, we are reaching out to families to see if you have tables we can borrow. If you are able to help out, please email Aleisha Webb at awebb@dioceseofspokane.org. Please make sure your last name is clearly labeled on the table and drop it off at school by 8:30 am on Wednesday, February 21st. They can be picked up any time on Friday, February 23rd. Thank you for your help!

Box Tops:

There have been many questions so I wanted to clarify that yes, the Labels for Education Program has ended BUT the Box Tops program is still going strong! Thank you to all of the families that have participated this year. Box Tops are such an easy fundraiser for our school! The Box Tops program sends out checks 2 times a year, once in December and once in April. Our next submission deadline is Thursday, March 1st. Our goal this year is to earn $1,000 and we are already at $600! Please watch for a Box Tops sheet to be coming home with your child today. These sheets hold 50 Box Tops which can be taped or glued and each full sheet earns our school $5. Did you know Box Tops count for volunteer hours also?

50 Box Tops = 1 volunteer hour Please record your volunteer hour(s) under the Box Tops category on your Volunteer Hour Summary and list your families name and the grade to credit on every bag or sheet turned in. I do not record hours for this so make sure you are keeping track.

This month the prize for the top 3 classes will be a popcorn party. Please check out the Box Tops website at btfe.com for coupons, bonus Box Tops, and information about the Box Tops app. Please contact Aleisha Webb at awebb@dioceseofspokane.org with any questions you may have. Thank you!

STAG Pride/Kudos/Prayers:

  • In what ways will you try to move forward in your relation to Christ this Lent?

  • We pray to be centered this Lenten season. How can you center yourself more on God and God’s ways?
