“Set an example. Treat everyone with kindness and respect, even those who are rude to you-not because they are nice, but because you are.”

~Unknown

Message from Principal Angie Krauss:

Dear Families,

I was humbled to serve alongside such a compassionate school community as we all grieved the incident at Freeman and helped those that were personally affected. I ask that we keep praying for Freeman school employees, the victims and their community as they try to begin healing from this tragic loss.

Last week we had the wonderful opportunity to tour Bishop Daly around our school and he was very impressed with our school, staff and students. He could see the Holy Spirit at work in our building!

Also, I wanted to inform you that our drama club was selected to perform at the Nazareth Guild Gala on Saturday, September 23rd. This is a huge honor for our school, so please join me in praying for their performance. The Nazareth Guild is a non profit organization that supports K-12 Catholic education with tuition assistance and special grants. They are instrumental to ours school success and we are grateful for all they do for the Spokane Catholic School system.

My bible verse from Lamentations reminded me that God’s mercies are new each morning and to focus on his strength and not our unresolved problems. This gave me peace and the perspective I needed. God is simply AMAZING!

Hope you have a blessed week!

In Christ’s Peace,

Angie Krauss

Volunteer Hours:

Just a reminder that your family’s Volunteer Hour Summary should have come home either on Back to School night or with your child last week. Please make sure all the information is correct. Any corrections needed can be made on the form itself and returned to Mrs. Kelli at the front desk by the end of the month or you can email at awebb@dioceseofspokane.org<mailto:awebb@dioceseofspokane.org>.

Info about Volunteer Hour Summaries:

* Volunteer Hour Summaries will be sent home with the youngest child in your family

* K-4 will be in red folders and 5-8 will be in backpacks.

* They will be sent home the first school day of each month.

* Please use as a reference of your total hours completed.

* Record any volunteer hours completed throughout the month.

* Return in red folders or to Mrs. Kelli at the front desk by the end of the month.

I will put a reminder in the Monday News that Volunteer Hour Summaries will be coming home. Please make sure your hours are accurately recorded as you complete them. If you have any questions, please contact Aleisha Webb at awebb@dioceseofspokane.org.

Volunteer Opportunities:

* Looking for a volunteer that is crafty and would like to help me out with a bi weekly/monthly project from September-June.

* Luncheon supplies for volunteer hours! Thanks to donations from last year we are still pretty well stocked! The only items I am in need of are:

* Tablecloths: 10 plastic table clothes (range of colors)= 1 volunteer hour

* Paper bowels: 100 pack of bowels = 1 volunteer hour

Please record these hours under “Baking/cooking” on your Volunteer Hour Summary.

If you are interested in any of these volunteer opportunities please email Aleisha Webb at awebb@dioceseofspokane.org<mailto:awebb@dioceseofspokane.org>. Thank you!

Box Tops and Labels for Education:

If you wish to participate in Box Tops and Labels for Education, there will be a stack of collection sheets available on the bulletin board outside of Mrs. Devita’s classroom. This board will also have our weekly updated totals. Box Tops/Labels can be taped or glued to the sheet (no staples, please) or you can submit them in baggies. You may claim 1 hour of volunteer time for every 50 Box Tops/Labels for Education submitted. Please make sure to write your family name and grade on the sheet or baggie so that your child’s class receives credit. Each family is required to record their own hours. Please record these hours under the category “Box Tops and Labels for Education”.

STAG Pride/Kudos/Prayers:

* Please pray for the homeless in our community. May they find comfort and services they need during difficult times.

* For all of our school families and loved ones, that God will bless our lives abundantly with peace, joy, and healing, and fill us with His Holy Spirit.
