School Uniforms ( Montessori )

Uniforms are to be worn beginning the first day of the traditional school year. All students should arrive dressed appropriately and adequately for the weather.  While at school, student dress will conform to St. Aloysius Catholic School uniform policy. All staff members are responsible for the consistent enforcement of the uniform code, with the principal reserving the right to make final decisions regarding the appropriateness of any student choice related to appearance while at school.  The clothing we wear influences our behavior.  Wearing uniforms enables students to focus less on their attire and more on schoolwork and other important classroom concerns.  New, unusual, or faddish styles of clothing or hair ( hair must be a natural human hair color and must not be a distracting style.), makeup, or accessories which may be of interest to students can cause them to be distracted or even disrupt the learning process and therefore will not be allowed.  Listed below are proper uniform attire for both boys and girls.  New uniforms are available at the Uniform House, West 526 Main, or at other clothing stores.  The school has a free uniform exchange program, which parents may utilize.

When undershirts are worn they may not show at the sleeves or hemline of the uniform shirt. Undershirts may be solid red, white , or navy blue.

Girls Blouses: Plain white blouses with Peter Pan collars may be worn.

Cardigans: Solid red or navy blue button down sweaters are optional.

Homework

If your child is in Montessori kindergarten please help them practice writing their spelling words. Also please have them write as many words as they can in 10 minutes. These words can be spelling words, rhyming words, or word families.  In class we are working on using these words in sentences.  It would be great if your child practiced writing sentences at home.

* Please continue to help your child learn their full name, house address,   home phone or cell number, and their birthdate.

It would be nice if you could have your child read to you for 10 minutes each night. If you do not have books at their level please come and ask me for a book to use. It's important for you to keep reading to them. They love it!

Please help your child count by 2's,5's & 10's to 100. Continue to help your child recognize numbers 1-31 and then to 100.  Show the numbers by themself and out of order.
