Dear Parents and Second Graders,

Summer vacation is almost here!  This class has been a tremedous blessing to me.  You should all be very proud of your wonderful children!

I have attached some useful papers and informaton to this final newsletter.  The students need to read, read, read, and read some more this summer! We want to prevent “brain drain” so they will maintain their skills.  Math fact sheets are attached. Quick recall of these facts are strongly encouraged. Making flash cards could be a fun summer activity. Core words are a review of basic second grade words to know how to read, spell, and use in sentences.  Keeping a journal of their summer activities is a good way to keep up their writing skills.

On Tuesday we will walk to the Mobius Science Center and Carrousel.  Lunch will be provided for the students. Chaperones need to bring their own lunch.  Please have students wear gym shoes for the walk. Also, wear their tie-dye shirts with “free dress” bottoms.  We will leave at 8:45 and return about 1:00.

On Wednesday please have the students wear play clothes with closed toe shoes (no flip flops or sandals) for play day.  On Thursday the students need to wear uniforms. We will be walking to the church at 8:45 for mass. We will return after mass to school at 10:15.  I will hand out report cards in the classroom at that time. If your child is ill, you may pick up the report card in the office this summer.

I am proud of how much the children have matured this year. They should feel very proud and confident about all they have learned and accomplished.  It has been an honor to be their teacher this year. Thank you so much for all your support. I wish you all a fun and safe summer!

God Bless,

Mrs. Diane Weber

P.S.  Please have your child bring a backpack this week because we have lots of “stuff” coming home.
