Tigers Weekly Newsletter December 11-15th

Tigers family news for the week of December 11-15, 2017

Hello Tigers families,

This week in Tigers class we will be learning letter “Jj” with a focus on Jesus, Joseph, jungle and jam! For a science observation we will sample different jams/jellies, and in our dramatic play area we will transform the area into a Christmas house complete with a decorated tree!

Faith Focus: Our faith focus this week will be on Advent and the addition of a purple candle to our Advent wreath. The prayer will be: Dear God, as we decorate our home and classroom for Christmas, we think about the birth of your son, Jesus. Help us show love and kindness toward each other as we prepare to celebrate. Amen.

Math:  Measuring, Counting different animals that live in the jungle

Science/Nature:  We will be working on Jam observations.

Writing/Literacy: We will be writing words that start with the letter J. Some of these words will include Jesus, Joseph, Jungle, and Jam.

Stories:  Our stories will include Walking through the jungle, The journey home from Grandpa’s, The animal boogie, The story of Jonah.

Dramatic Play: We will be transforming our dramatic play into a Christmas house. Miss Kim will be providing a tree, and Miss Emily will be bringing baking items for children to explore in the housekeeping area.

Special Activities:   We will be decorating Christmas Cookies on December 22. There will be a sign up sheet to bring sprinkles, and frosting. Miss Emily will provide sugar cookies.

Dates to remember:  Christmas break will be from December 25-January 2. We will re-open on January 3rd.

Reminders: Please remember to have your child bring a hat and gloves or mittens. We still go outside and the weather is getting colder.  Also we are asking parents to bring a backpack with your child to carry their items that the children do in class. These items could include art or paperwork that they need to bring home.

Thank you for letting us foster your child’s early learning.

Miss Kim, Miss Emily and Miss Karen.
