May News

Good Afternoon! It’s hard to believe it’s already May! I have had such an incredible year with your kiddos, thank you again for all of your support and partnership.  This community has been so awesome and I feel so blessed and welcome here at St. Al’s!

In May:

Humanities: We will continue our novel study of Steal Away Home and a book report project will be assigned.

In Mrs. Nuss’ Math class, we are still working through chapter 8, which is focused on Geometry. Chapter 9 will continue with even more advanced Geometry, so please make sure your child has a protractor for class each day.  Thank you and I apologize for the late notice.

In Religion, we are celebrating the Easter Season, and we will work through Unit 5, entitled “We Worship God by Living in Love”. Learning outcomes will include students being able to explain why all life, especially human life is precious and to identify the value of every human life. Please encourage your child to discuss these ideas as we learn about them.

In Grammar, we are continuing our spelling work; working with parts of speech, and letter writing for a variety of purposes.

In Social Studies, our Colonial Times Unit is coming to an end with a unit assessment, we will then continue our study of Early America and of course, current events as well. In STEM, we will continue our study of energy with centers, presentations from Avista, and hands-on experiments!

.Homework, TeacherEase and Sports Eligibility

Please continue to check TeacherEase on a regular basis.  Students who are not turning in assignments will be ineligible to play baseball.  As we turn the corner toward 6th grade, I would really like to see them to continue to work hard and turn in quality work. After Spring Break, we will transition them to the 6th grade homework policy so they are prepared for next year. The policy is as follows:

Grades 6-8:

  • 1 day late- 25% off
  • 2-5 days late- 50% off
  • More than one week late-0, no chance for make up

Thank you for your help and support on this! I really do appreciate your partnership!
