“The day the Lord created hope was probably the same day he created Spring.”
Message from Principal Angie Krauss:
I hope you enjoyed the sunshine this weekend as much as our family did. I believe spring might finally be coming after all!
This is a very exciting week for our students! Our Generation Alive packing day is tomorrow from 9-11 AM. Our school raised $2,923 which enables us to provide over 11,692 meals to Second Harvest. These meals will be distributed to several organizations that support Catholic Charities. Our community is AWESOME!!!
Once we complete packing day, different grade levels will be visiting the organizations that benefited from these meals. Also, students will reflect on what they learned from this experience that helps them more fully become a person for others. Please see at the bottom of this message a schedule for our packing day so you can watch your child in action!
We are humbled to be the first Catholic school in the Spokane area to participate in this social justice program. Hope to see you Tuesday morning in the gymnasium!
You may pick up your registration packet at the front desk today. They must be turned in by March 29, so we can process them during spring break.
Just a reminder, Fund Run has been changed to Friday, June 2nd. Student Sponsor Request Forms are coming home today. Please fill them out and return them ASAP.
Last, but certainly not least, we will have “Zag Dress Up” Day on Thursday. Congrats Zags on making it to the Sweet 16!
This morning, we recognized the following students at Monday Morning prayer for their Acts of Mercy: Olivia Patshkowski, Olivia McIntyre and Laura Thompson.
GENERATION ALIVE PACKING SCHEDULE

In Christ’s Peace,
Week of March 20-24
This week, we will be searching for signs of spring when we are playing outside. Also, we will be mixing yellow and blue finger paint to make green. On Friday, we will be taking our class pictures.
We will be learning about spring! We will be doing fun paintings and collages!
The focus of our theme for the this week will be Spring. Throughout the next few weeks, the children will become more aware of the many changes that take place during the spring season. Our main focus will be on changes in our environment both big and small. We will be discussing changes in the weather, plants, flowers, trees, and animals.
The Hawks class will be learning about the letter ‘Ss’. We will be reading The Very Busy Spider and making spiders and spider webs. We will also celebrate the first day of Spring by planting flowers!
This week, our theme will be transportation. We will learn letters ‘P’ and ‘Q’. Also we will continue our winter child assessments.
This week, we will be doing the letter and sound of “G”. For science, Tigers will be introduced to amazing minerals and create gold rocks! In bible, we are acting out Noah’s Ark.

Generation Alive: TOMORROW, March 21, WE NEED TO BORROW YOUR TABLES! The Leadership kids will be setting up in the gym to start packaging meals and we are still in need of some extra 6 ft. folding tables. Rather than buying them, we are reaching out to families to see if you have tables that we can borrow. If you are willing to let us borrow a table, please email Aleisha Webb at firstname.lastname@example.org<mailto:email@example.com>. Please make sure your last name is clearly labeled on the table and drop it off at school by 8:30 AM on Tuesday, March 21. They can then be picked up on Wednesday, March 22nd. Thank you for your help!
Please watch your email for Volunteer Hour Notices to be sent out. Just to clarify:
* ½ day Kinder or Montessori enrollment = 10 volunteer hours per family
* Full time Montessori & K-8 enrollment = 20 volunteer hours per family
Please email Aleisha Webb at firstname.lastname@example.org<mailto:email@example.com> with any questions you may have about your hours or if you did not receive a Volunteer Hour Summary. We have been receiving many duplicate hours; please make sure that you are only recording hours that have not yet been recorded.
If you are recording hours under any of the “other” categories, please make sure you include a description of those hours. Hours recorded under “other” without a description will not be counted until confirmed.
We will be offering one more Protecting God’s Children class this year. Date and time are TBD. There is limited availability so please email Meg Martens at firstname.lastname@example.org<mailto:email@example.com> if you are interested in signing up.
You are still able to complete volunteer hours even if you have not taken the Protecting God’s Children class. Here are a few ways to help you fulfill them:
* Watch the Monday News for upcoming opportunities.
* Ask your child’s teacher about take home projects and/or helping out with projects they need completed.
* Look through the categories listed on the Volunteer Hour Summary.
* Email Aleisha Webb at firstname.lastname@example.org<mailto:email@example.com>
When recording these volunteer hours please list them as following:
* For concessions, record under the “baking/cooking” category
* For prop donations, please list them under “Events-other” and make note they are for the Godspell production. Each of the items were worth ½ a volunteer hour.
* For any help with the production, ie. set building, supervising practices, committees, etc. record these hours under “Classroom-Chaperone”
Thank you for all your help and support of this event! Please email Aleisha Webb at firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions you may have.
Box Tops and Labels for Education:
Please remember to include your family name and grade when turning in either sheets or baggies of Box Tops or Labels for Education. When recording them for volunteer hours, 50= 1 volunteer hour. You are responsible for recording your own hours on the Volunteer Hour Summary. We do not record hours for your family. Box Tops and Labels for Education can be submitted in a bag or either taped or glued (no staples please) to a collection sheet. New collection sheets can be found at the Box Tops/Labels for Education board located in the junior high wing.
* Please pray for the homeless in our community. May they find comfort and services they need during difficult times.
* For all of our school families and loved ones, that God will bless our lives abundantly with peace, joy, and healing, and fill us with His Holy Spirit.
