“Value” Ribbons for 7/8 Art

ribbon 1

The 7/8 Art class did a wonderful job with their “value” assignments earlier this month.  They focused on varying intensities of hues and blending them seamlessly into the next hue in the color spectrum using an advanced colored pencil technique called “scumbling.”  This technique involves using small, well-blended circular motions with the pencil to create a soft-focus effect.  This is a lovely technical assignment to prepare them for their colored pencil self portraits, which they are working on now.

I am St. Aloysius School's art teacher for grades K-8. It is a joy to bring art instruction to our students.
